Under US practice, there is no general duty to tell the USPTO that an AI tool helped prepare a filing. But the USPTO's position is that the duty of reasonable inquiry cannot be delegated to the tool: relying on an AI system's accuracy does not by itself satisfy it. Verification has to be done by a person. And where AI involvement becomes material to patentability, it must be disclosed.
